R U OK? Day (Are you okay? Day) is nearly here on the 10th September. This year with COVID19 restrictions in place all around Victoria it is important we all stay connected, especially in challenging times. We can continue to look after each other and now is a timely reminder to reach out and check-in on those you usually connect with and maybe re-connect with those you have lost touch with.
Brush up on your skills of the four steps of asking “Are you ok?”:

- Follow up

This year’s focus is also on learning that there’s more to say after R U OK? Learn more about what you can say. Take a look at some of the things you can ask after “are you ok?” to continue to provide support for those around you.
Get involved in R U OK? Day
You can get involved by:
- Wearing yellow clothes to your Zoom/Teams meetings and classes all week
- Learn and practise how to feel comfortable asking “Are you ok?”
- Learn what say after “Are you ok?” and support those who need it
- Participate or attend some of the activities and events we have below!

This year we have to move online but there are lots of activities, information and events to connect with your friends or even to make new ones!
Stress Less Sesh, 4pm – 4.3-pm 10th September
Hosted by our very own Health Science students and run by our very own counsellor Janine Stewart, learn more about HOW and WHY stress develops and explore some key coping mechanisms to break free from stress!
This session will provide a better insight about the meaning of stress and the impacts which stress can have on you mentally, physically and spiritually. Learn about La Trobe’s FREE Wellbeing services available to you and finish with a free short deep breathing exercise.
Relaxation and Meditation Session, 10th September, 1.30pm – 2pm
The Student Wellbeing team want to give the Uni’s staff and students an opportunity to unwind during the working week. Hosted by counsellor Martin Gladman weekly on a Thursday, Martin is hosting a half-hour online meditation and relaxation session until the 5th November from 1.30pm – 2pm via Zoom. Although it is a weekly session, you can join at any time.

Even though we are back in restrictions, it is important to check in with your mates. To help, BSA wants to shout you and your mate a takeaway coffee to go for a walk, have a quick COVID safe chat in person.
