The Premier has announced that Metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire (Kilmore and Seymour) will be subject to COVID-19 Stage 3 restrictions from midnight tomorrow (Wednesday 8 July) for six weeks. This means that people may only leave their homes for four reasons, including work or study that is not able to be done at home.
As the University has been carefully reactivating campuses since the first COVID-19 restrictions were put in place in Victoria in March, COVIDSafe arrangements are now in place for all activities currently being undertaken at the University.
Today’s announcement means that our COVIDSafe arrangements will continue, and no significant changes to our teaching operations are needed at our Melbourne (Bundoora) or City campuses. Please note the following arrangements:
- Level 1 of the library at our Melbourne Campus (Bundoora) will be available using COVIDSafe protocol for those students unable to study from home.
- Essential face-to-face subject activity for Semester 2 will commence as planned, but please monitor your LMS subjects for updates or changes.
- The plan to resume selected honours projects on the Bundoora campus will be deferred for six weeks.
If you feel unwell you must not come to campus, stay at home and contact the Department of Health and Human Services COVID hotline (1800 675 398).
Unfortunately, the Premier’s announcement means that recently resumed sporting activities on our Melbourne (Bundoora) campus will now be cancelled. La Trobe Sports will be contacting sports centre members and users with further details about this.
The resurgence of COVID-19 is clearly a disappointing outcome for Victoria, however we are well positioned to continue serving our communities during this further period of disruption.
Support is available online for all La Trobe University students, including access to free counselling and a range of academic and health and wellbeing services.
