Mental Health Basics: New dates

Mental Health Basics is a four-hour training session that has been designed to help students learn the following:

  • Recognise common mental health symptoms in students
  • How to be an empathetic and compassionate listener
  • Where to refer someone for more support

This session will cover an understanding of different mental health presentations such as depression, anxiety, panic attacks, self-harm, and suicidality. The session includes facts, stats, prevalence, and discussion around mental health stigma.

We also cover techniques for providing emotional support to somebody struggling and being able to point them in the right direction of support.

New dates and locations:

  • Bendigo – Monday 28th November, Room TBC
  • Shepparton – Tuesday 6th December, Room TBC

The session will break for a 20-minute lunch break. Please note this does not cover strategies to support your own mental health. If you would like to learn more about how to do this, please check out the mental health subject Enhancing & Responding to mental health (for students).
