In Semester 2, 2020 we launched student advisory groups for each of our 11 schools and representing many of our various courses and unique student cohorts (e.g. international, regional). All together, we have 135 La Trobe Student Course Reps.
Next year students will have an opportunity to meet these reps through various events and drop-in sessions. Stay tuned! In the meantime, below are some pictures of various student representatives along with some of the suggestions they’ve helped contribute to university staff.
Examples of Student Ideas and Feedback:
- More mixed student social events for students to meet peers from other courses and colleges,
- Introduction of icebreakers in all subjects,
- Improved presentation in video lectures to support student engagement,
- Research opportunities for undergraduate and master’s by coursework students.
Students interested in applying to become a course-rep are encouraged to visit the Emerging Leaders platform to EOI. Applications will open in January.
Tarryn, a student rep from the School of Public Health and Psychology, recommends the programs noting “I’ve really enjoyed getting to learn about others’ experience, makes me feel less alone.”
Phoebe, from School of Life Sciences agrees saying, “It’s nice to know that what I’m thinking about my course is shared by others”.
