COVID might have changed how you access the library, but it has made Library online services better than ever. We’ve chosen a few Library gems that will help you throughout your studies.
Did you know that the Library has a chat function that is actually staffed by librarians? No bots, no weird computerised interactions, just real people ready to help you. If you want to speak to a person, library staff are ready to help out.
Library specialists aren’t available 24/7 but you can reach them on Chat, phone or email from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm Saturday and Sunday. Information on how to contact us can be found on our We’re here to help page.
Online self help
The Library has a heap of online resources available on its website. There are plenty of tips and self-help pages for questions that may have already been asked. You can look through the FAQs to find what you need.
Referencing can be a frustrating task when you start uni, but the Library has made it easy. This referencing tool covers the main referencing styles used at La Trobe. If you have used the tool before you might want to have a look at it again – it has recently been updated.
The assessment planner is possibly the most underrated tool. It can literally plan your whole Semester’s work, from the date you need to start looking for resources, to when your final draft needs to be finished. Fill in the form and a step-by-step personalised plan will be ready for you.
Have you looked at the online tools, read the FAQs and still need a bit more help with Library services? Well, there are online classes available to help you master the Library’s services. Library specialists run online zoom classes throughout the Semester covering topics from referencing and searching to learning about eBooks and eJournals.
Click and Collect
The latest addition to Library services is the Click and Collect service. Use the Library Search function to find and borrow up to five items at one time, follow the prompts and pick up your items from your nearest campus collection point. Allow up to five business days for available items.
Stream movies and docos
You can access world-class documentaries and video clips through the Library, FOR FREE! Streaming services, Alexander Street Video and EduTV, can be easily accessed through the Library website. These services can help you through your studies or just be super entertaining. This is definitely a hidden gem.
