Lifting our vaccination requirement

This message was emailed to all students on 4 October 2022

It has been wonderful to see many of you back on campus, studying in the library, hanging out in the sun and enjoying events such as Pride Week, Feel Good Festival and the La Trobe Student Union Cultural Festival.

It is reassuring to see the significant decline in active COVID-19 cases, and across Australia the requirements for mandatory vaccination and work from home have been eased. La Trobe continues to take advice from our public health experts when determining COVID safety for the University.

As we previously communicated on 8 July 2022, the requirement for staff and students to be fully vaccinated will be lifted. We can now confirm that this will take place from 14 November 2022 to coincide with the end of Semester 2 examinations, and will lift from the beginning of Term 6 for all students enrolling in that teaching period.

The requirement for vaccinations will remain in place for any students undertaking a placement or field work, where it is required by placement provider, e.g., in healthcare settings. You can upload your vaccination information online.

As we prepare for the removal of the vaccination requirement, all areas of the University are reviewing and updating their COVID safety risk assessments and will ensure relevant health and safety measures are in place.

Please read the Staying COVIDSafe at La Trobe pages on our website to find out more about the steps you can continue to take to keep yourself and your communities safe.

We strongly encourage you to get your fourth COVID-19 vaccination if you haven’t already done so. These can be booked through your GP or local pharmacy.

Again, I am delighted to see so many of you back on our campuses, enjoying our campus events and connecting with your peers and teachers. I wish you all the best for your studies as we near the end of the semester.
