La Trobe University has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Green University of the Year Award in the 2020 Asia-Pacific Triple E Awards.
The Green University of the Year Award recognises a university that is highly committed to the protection of the environment through resource planning and usage, and where environmental protection is a part of the university’s values and culture.
La Trobe’s application reflected our commitment to addressing the big issues of our time, and how we can build the capacity of the La Trobe community to effectively address the issues of tomorrow.
Initiatives such as our Net Zero program, La Trobe Essentials, our Research Focus Areas and Nangak Tamboree were among key programs highlighted, as well as various other sustainability initiatives that help to minimise our footprint across our operations.
La Trobe is one of five finalists in this category alongside Chiba University of Commerce (Japan), Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (India), IIT Guwahati (India) and Ozyegin University (Turkey), with the winner to be announced at an awards ceremony on 10 January 2020.
The Triple E Awards globally recognise ‘Entrepreneurship and Engagement Excellence’ in higher education and aim to foster change in universities to emphasise their role in their communities and ecosystems.
