La Trobe Bystander Intervention Training: Gender-based violence and Sexual Harm

La Trobe University has an unwavering commitment to the prevention of sexual harm and gender-based violence. Each of us has a role to play in preventing and responding to everyday sexism, violence against women, and sexual harm. Our actions as bystanders can help shape and foster a more equal, inclusive and safe learning and working environment for everyone.

We may face both barriers and factors that enable us to be an active bystander. For example, the lack of knowledge on sexual harassment or bullying may be a barrier to noticing that an incident of sexual harm occurred or that intervention is required. Our lack of knowledge of what to do when we witness a situation may be a barrier to deciding how to help.

We are inviting you, our students, to participate in our Bystander Intervention Training. The training will assist participants in understanding the drivers of sexual harm and gender-based violence and how to intervene in a variety of situations safely.

The information contained throughout this program should help you overcome some of these barriers, and help you share your knowledge with others.
