La Trobe University is supporting students who are undertaking an internship/work placement between 25 February to 23 June by offering the opportunity to apply for an Industry Placement Bursary, valued at $1000.

Applications are open now and close on Sunday 12 May 2024 at 11.59pm.

To meet the eligibility criteria you need to:

  • Be enrolled as a domestic undergraduate student
  • Be a La Trobe student studying at a La Trobe campus
  • Be enrolled in a placement subject and have or will undertake a work placement in the Semester 1 teaching period (25 February to 23 June). Placement must have commenced from 25 February.
  • Meet criteria for financial, medical or educational disadvantage
  • Have a confirmed placement listed in InPlace

How much are the bursaries worth and when are they paid?

Industry Placement bursaries are worth $1000 and will be paid in a single payment before the end of May. There are also $2500 STEM Industry Placement Bursaries for some eligible courses.

Travel bursaries are also available for students that are travelling more than 120 km one way to attend placement and meet the eligibility criteria.

Recipient selection criteria is based on:

  • Application addressing the eligibility criteria
  • Supporting documentation. Please note, you will not be contacted regarding missing or incomplete supporting documentation and all supporting documentation must be provided by the closing date. More information here
  • Placements must be a minimum of 70 hours in duration
  • Ranking by criteria around the financial and educational disadvantage criteria within VTAC SEAS and equity scholarships
  • Other indicators will be considered such as low socio-economic status, first in family, regional status, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and distance travelled to placement
