The Industry Mentoring Program is a flexible program which connects you to an industry professional for twelve weeks, three times each year (Semester 1, Semester 2 and Summer). You and your mentor decide where and how often you will catch up. You also will establish goals for the program so that you can work on or discuss anything important to you or is of concern about your transition into professional life.
You will also connect with LTU Alumni alongside industry professionals.
Our amazing results from the survey from student mentees in 2019 revealed that 97 percent of responders were confident with their career direction after completing of the program, while 94 percent indicated that their mentor was well matched with their desired professional development goals.
Previous students have mentioned how awesome it was, including the below:
“Before starting, I had no clue about what the financial services industry was about and what I needed to do in order to succeed. Now, I have so much more direction and knowledge of the specific skills I need as well as the steps I need to take in order to make progress. The experience was so good that I would have happily paid for it knowing what I’d get out of it.”
“Personally, the mentoring program has helped me to grow personally and professionally. I highly recommend students to participate in the program as it helps clarify any doubt they have in their career path or would like to improve or prepare for their career journey.”
Mentoring, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary, means to “advise or train.” As students, our time at University is to do just that – receive advice and train within our chosen fields. However, at times our class work can feel very disjointed from what it truly feels like out in the real world, so this is where the Industry Mentoring Program becomes very helpful.
If you aren’t convinced yet, the benefits of mentoring are profound! The industry mentoring program can help you:
- Connect with industry and expand your professional network
- Develop confidence in communicating with industry professionals
- Map your career progression
- Open up further professional opportunities
- Count towards your Career Ready Advantage Award!
