How to get help over the break

Some of our student support services are taking a well deserved break over the holiday. Check the information below to see what’s available during this time.

Support services available to students during the break:

Charlie is open 24/7 for everyone to use and can assist you with answers to common questions.
ASK La TrobeASK La Trobe will extend opening hours on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 December.
·     Thursday 21: 10 am – 6 pm
·     Friday 22: 9 am – 5 pm

ASK La Trobe will have limited opening hours during the break for LiveChat and Virtual Drop in services only on Wednesday 27, Thursday 28 and Friday 29 December from 10 am – 3 pm.

Health, Wellbeing and InclusionThe La Trobe University Crisis Line will be available. Call 1300 146 307, or text 0488 884 100.

Indigenous Student ServicesIf you need assistance during the break you can still contact Indigenous Student Services by emailing Indigenous_studentservices@latrobe.edu.au.

Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus students will continue to have 24 hour access to the Ngarn-gi Bagora Indigenous Centre (Room 228, Level 2, Agora East Building).
International Student Support24-hour international student assistance hotline
This is a special after-hours telephone hotline for international students at La Trobe University. We care and want to help you with anything you might be worried about.

If you need any urgent assistance and support at night, on the weekends or while the University closed Please call 1800 758 360. This is a free call from landlines anywhere in Australia. Standard call rates apply from mobile phones.

You can contact the after-hours hotline from outside Australia by calling +61 2 8905 0325.
Graduate Research SchoolThe Graduate Research School will be closed from 23 December 2023, and will reopen on Wednesday 3 January 2024. Staff will not be available during this time.

Graduate researchers can still access their forms and details online via StudentOnLine.

Zoom on-line drop in sessions will recommence on Wednesday 3 January 2024.

Graduate researchers planning on submitting their thesis for examination over the break, should review information about the examination process and ensure that they complete the Authority to Submit and send on to their supervisor for approval so that they can be issued with the link to submit before the break.
Library Learning ServicesCheck out Library Learning Services Online, a single place in the LMS to find eLearning tools across La Trobe University. You can access self-paced learning activities when it suits you and from wherever you are. The Learning Hub Online brings together resources like Achieve@Uni, Studiosity and LinkedInLearning videos, along with specially designed resources.
LibraryLibrary opening hours have recently changed. Please check the summer opening hours for your campus library.
La Trobe Student Union (LTSU) Advocacy servicesRegister for support online via Get Advocacy Support.
Safer CommunitySafer Community will be closed during the break and will reopen on 3 January 2024.

Student IT SupportStudent IT Support will be available on the 27, 28 & 29 from 10 am – 3 pm via phone, LiveChat and Virtual Drop-In (Zoom sessions) as normal.

The ASK IT portal is available 24/7.
Student IT Support will resume normal services on Wednesday 3 January.
