Health and Safety Procedure: COVID-19 vaccination

This message was emailed to all students on 29 November 2021

Dear students,

As vaccination rates continue to increase, we’re excited to approach stage two in our roadmap to safely re-open campuses. Thank you to all members of the La Trobe community who have already been vaccinated.

As previously communicated, from 1 December 2021 we require all students, staff, contractors and visitors to provide proof of full vaccination (or a valid medical exemption) to attend our campuses.

This requirement is outlined in our new Health and Safety Procedure – COVID-19 vaccination. We thank all students and staff who provided feedback during the consultation on the draft policy.

The Policy includes a set of maps for each campus, clearly indicating designated zones, entry to which full vaccination is a requirement.

Now that we have established the vaccination procedure, we ask you to follow the below steps to prepare for your next visit to campus.

Get ready to come back to campus

  1. Provide proof of your vaccination status (or valid medical exemption). Complete the form in StudentOnLine and attach your PDF vaccination record or international vaccination certificate – see: COVID-19 digital certificates. You can attend campus as soon as you have submitted your proof of vaccination (you don’t need to wait for a confirmation email), and we will contact you if there any issues with your documentation.
  2. Bring your photo ID as you may need it to confirm your identity and vaccination status.
  3. Get your phone ready to check-inAdd your vaccination certificate to the Service Victoria app. If you are an international student, follow the instructions under ‘Proof of vaccination if you don’t have Medicare’. If there are any delays in linking your proof of vaccination to Service Victoria, you will need to carry a printed or digital vaccination certificate with your passport – see advice for international travellers.
COVID Marshals will be onsite to validate vaccination status.
  4. Check the latest face mask rules.

What’s open on campus? (and free car parking)

Many face-to-face services are open on our campuses including food vendors, cafes and retail stores. The libraries are open, as are student Health and Wellbeing and ASK La Trobe.

Graduation ceremonies are taking place at Bendigo and Bundoora campus in December. Note that ceremonies are only open to graduands and ticket holders due to strict venue capacity and COVID safety requirements.
A quick reminder that parking on campus is free of charge until the end of 2021.

We can’t wait to get back
See our short video below about why we can’t want to get back on campus. We’re also excited to welcome our international students back to on-campus study.

Stay safe

As we approach the holidays we hope you stay safe and well. Keep yourself up-to-date on the latest public health advice, and isolate and get tested if you have any symptoms of COVID-19.

We look forward to a happy and safe return to the campus life we have all missed.
