Convert your volunteering hours into a game-changing award on your academic transcript

La Trobe has a bunch of great volunteers out there doing amazing work at the University and in their communities. Are you one of them?

Did you know that volunteering on campus and in the community counts towards a Career Ready Advantage Silver, Gold or Platinum Award?

The La Trobe University  Career Ready Advantage Program helps you to develop the skills and attributes employers are looking for, through on-campus, coursework and community activities.

It’s a practical way to develop a high quality resume, LinkedIn profile and other documents that will help you stand out when applying for internships, paid work and professional graduate roles.

Achieving a Career Ready Advantage Award will also be listed on your final academic transcript.

The Silver Award is a good place to start.  If you’ve done 40 hours of volunteer work plus 120 hours of paid work this year you’ve already  met the Award requirements for Practical Experience.

Find out what else is involved (and on offer) by  visiting Career Ready Advantage on your LMS.

We also  run regular Career Ready Advantage Award Information Sessions in Career Ready, Level 2, The Agora. Come along to find out how the Career Ready Advantage Award works  and have your questions answered by a Careers Adviser – see details  and book on CareerHub.

Haven’t ticked that ‘volunteering’ box in your work experience yet? Here’s how you can get started

Let’s be honest, volunteering is more about ticking a box. It’s a super rewarding and feel good experience that’ll build your character as much as it will your CV.

There are thousands of ways to make your mark through volunteering. All you have to do is find the right opportunity for you.

You can volunteer your time in a La Trobe student union or associationclub or societysporting club, in your local community or as an ambassador or leader at the University.

Stay tuned for La Trobe’s next Volunteer Expo on September 11, 2019. Come and meet with exhibitors from a wide range of community and not-for-profit organisations who will be available to discuss how you can become a volunteer.
