You’ve done the hard work and now it’s time to check your results! Results are officially released at the end of each Semester or Term, find out when yours will be released.

The Semester 2 2025 release date is Wednesday 26 November 2025.

Where to find your results

Once your results are released, we’ll send an email to your student email address to let you know they’re ready.

To access your results in StudentOnLine, you can either<ins>:</ins>

Click on the ‘My Study’ tile and view your results under your course on the ‘Academic History’ page; or

Visit the ‘My Studies Summary’ in ‘My Summaries’, select your course and view your results in the ‘Subject and results details’ section.

In some cases, results may become visible earlier than the release date. If you check your results early and don’t see all your results, please be patient. There’s no need for you to contact ASK La Trobe or Student IT Support, your results will be released by the published results release date.

Note that your results may be amended after initial release, especially in the case of withheld or missing results.<ins></ins>

If you’re waiting for results from a different study period, check our results release page or academic calendar for dates.

Why can’t I see my grade in StudentOnLine?

Unpaid fees are the most common reason you may not see your grade. Check if you have any fee sanctions by going to the ‘My Details’ tile in StudentOnLine, then go to ‘Sanctions’ in the menu on the left-hand side. Check out our FAQ for more info.

Understanding your grades

Sometimes your grades may appear a little confusing, so we put together this resource to help you understand your grades. Find out what the letter grades or percentages mean on your coursework, and understand what common administrative codes mean.

Things to do before your next study period

If you’re continuing studies, now’s a good time to check that you’re correctly enrolled!

What to do if things don’t go as planned with your results

Let’s be real, things don’t always go as planned. You might not get the results you wanted on your assignment, and that can be disappointing.

If this is you, take some time to put together a plan to make sure you’re taking care of yourself. Here are our top strategies for how to handle failure or disappointment at results time.

If you failed a subject, read our Failing a subject – next steps FAQ.

If the subject is a pre-requisite for another subject, you will still need to pass it before being able to progress to the follow-on subject (i.e. you will need to repeat it if you do not pass).

If it’s an elective, you might choose to complete the same subject again or another subject worth the same amount of credit points.

If you believe your results are incorrect you may request a review of your marks. Requests must be made within 10 working days of results publication.

To help you achieve your best, both academically and personally, La Trobe has a number of support services available, like:

study support services, including the Learning Hubs

academic support resources and workshops, covering themes like time management and tips for successful study habits

wellbeing services, including counselling.

Calculate your WAM

La Trobe uses a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) calculation instead of a Grade Point Average (GPA). A WAM is an average mark that takes into account the credit point value of the subjects that you have completed. Learn how to calculate your WAM here.

Have questions or need help?

If you need help or assistance with any matter, please visit ASK La Trobe FAQs or speak to your subject coordinator or course coordinator.

We all hit bumps along the way in our university journey. That’s why we offer a range of flexible support options to help you succeed at La Trobe – both online and in person.

Whether it’s academic guidance, course planning or navigating unexpected circumstances, help is just a few clicks (or a campus visit) away…

The Library

The Library is your go-to spot to build your study skills and get help with your studies or research – online or on campus.

The Library also runs workshops throughout the semester.

Subject and Course Coordinators

If you need help with a subject or your overall study plan, your Subject and Course Coordinators are your key contacts.

Subject Coordinators can assist with questions about subject content, assessments, or anything specific to a unit you’re studying. Course Coordinators can help with broader course-related queries, like choosing electives, understanding course structure, or planning your study path.

You can find their contact details in the University Handbook or via the LMS. It’s best to reach out to them via email following and include details like your student ID and subject code (following the advice in our academic contact FAQ).

Assessment Adjustments

Your results are out – but do you know what they mean? Here’s the breakdown you need to make sense of your results and letter grades.

The Schedule of current assessment grades and administrative codes contains all letter grades (and their scores) along with administrative codes.

Common administrative codes include:

The ‘Last withdraw without fail date’ is usually around 4 weeks after census date – check the exact date on the Census dates webpage.

NRA (No Result Available)

This code may mean that you did not complete your AIM or Wominjeka modules or that you attended a subject at another institution, but they have not provided us with the result.

SAHA (Supplementary Additional Hurdle Assessment) result

You have not passed the hurdle requirement of the subject.
Exams are fast approaching and it’s time to get prepared. Have you remembered to order your student ID card?

It’s an easy thing to overlook when you’re studying, but if you have face-to-face or supervised online exams this Semester, having your student ID card with you on the day is really important.

Why does it matter?

It’s University policy that students sitting face-to-face or supervised online exams must display their student ID for the duration of their exam.

Displaying a valid student ID is the quickest way we can ensure the person sitting the exam is really you. It protects the security of your academic record and ensures the integrity of our exams.

How do I order a student ID card?

Ordering a student ID card is easy. All you need to do is snap a clear, passport quality photo of yourself, and order your card online.

When your photo is approved, you’ll receive an email to your student email address (not your personal email). Your card will then be ready to collect from your campus 3-5 working days, or 5-7 working days during peak times.

You’ll need to bring government-issued photo ID when you collect your card, such as a passport or Australian driver’s license.

What if I don’t have my student ID card in time for my exam?

If you haven’t been able to order and collect your student ID card before your exam, don’t stress. Simply make sure you bring some form of government-issued photo ID on the day. Suitable photo ID includes:

Passport

Australian driver’s license

Proof of age card

Marine license

Working with Children Check

If you’re a new, domestic student enrolled in a course, it’s important you submit your electronic Commonwealth Assistance Form (eCAF) before your first Census date.

The eCAF is an online form used by domestic students to apply for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) and/or Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) loan. Submitting your eCAF is a crucial step to secure your enrolment.

You only need to submit it once and it covers you for the duration of your course.

Why do I need to submit an eCAF?

An eCAF is a formal agreement between you and the Government that you must complete to accept your CSP and / or HELP loan. If you don’t submit an eCAF form, your CSP offer and / or HELP loan request is not valid.

This means you won’t be eligible to access Commonwealth support (including a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) or HELP loan) for your current teaching period.

Not submitting an eCAF by your first Census may result in your enrolment being cancelled, or you may be required to pay full fees up front to continue your course.

If you are enrolled in a CSP and choose to pay your tuition upfront, you are still required to submit an eCAF to secure your CSP

What do I need to do?

You will need to complete at least two forms to fully submit your eCAF. To submit, you must first complete a form in StudentOnLine, before completing a form in the eCAF Government portal.

Please note, after you have submitted your first form, it may take up to 24 hours for you to receive access to the Government portal, so we recommend you allow enough time to successfully complete BOTH forms before your first Census date.

To access Commonwealth support, including a CSP and/or HELP loan, submit your eCAF before your first subject Census date by following the instructions in our FAQ: Request for Government Assistance forms/electronic Commonwealth Assistance Forms (eCAF)

Keeping your mobile number up to date is one of the best ways you can ensure you don’t miss important announcements from the University.

We break down the top 5 reasons to update your mobile phone number:

You could hear about opportunities and win prizes! – We might SMS you about great events and opportunities we have coming up and sometimes there are even prizes to be won! Don’t be the one that gets left out!

You’ll never miss an important email – You should always be checking your student email, but if it’s really important, we know sometimes a little prompt can help. That’s why we will often send an SMS to let you know if you’ve received an important email. Life gets busy and our reminders are just one way of making sure you don’t forget the important stuff!

You’ll be on the list for check in calls – From time to time, support teams like Student Advising and our awesome Student Ambassadors will do call out campaigns to check in on students that might need more help with navigating uni life. From helping you enrol to just making sure you’re comfortable at uni, we want to make sure we can reach you to help you be your best!

You’ll help us ensure you comply with legislation that might affect you – Some students, like international students and students on some placements, have specific requirements they must meet to continue in their programs. If we think you’re at risk of breaching these requirements, we need to be able to contact you, and a quick phone call is often the best way to let you know.

You’ll have peace of mind knowing we can reach you when it matters – We won’t bug you often, we promise! But when it comes to communicating important matters or being able to contact you if something goes wrong, nothing beats the security of knowing your contact information is up to date.

Update your mobile phone number

Updating your number is simple! All you need to do is log in to StudentOnLine and update your details under ‘Contacts’ on the ‘My Details’ tile. Click save once you’ve made your changes, and you’re done!

Remember, we always store your personal information securely and protect your privacy. For more information about how we collect and store your data, see our Privacy policy.

Help us stay connected, update your mobile phone number today!

So, say hello to the future of student support! Charlie is ready to make your life at La Trobe easier.

Ready to meet Charlie and explore all the fun and convenience it has to offer?
Your future just got a whole lot brighter – and smarter – thanks to Charlie!

Fast FAQs about Charlie

Who can use the chatbot?

Everyone! Charlie is open for everyone to use and can assist you with answers to common questions. You will need to log in to Charlie to get access to more customised information or connect with LiveChat to speak to an ASK La Trobe team member.

How do I log in?

Use your username (student id) and password if you are prompted to log in to the chatbot. You can use Charlie without logging in but remember, you won’t be able to access LiveChat without logging in.

How do I use Charlie chatbot?

Your query can be just three to six keywords and doesn’t need to be phrased as a question. If Charlie doesn’t give you the answer you’re looking for, try one or two different keywords or ask your question a different way. Charlie may ask a follow up question such as ‘did you mean…’ or ask you to provide specific information based on the type of student you are, for example: part time, full time, graduate, undergraduate, international or domestic. Simply select your answer from the options provided to continue using Charlie.

Charlie understands common questions, tasks or keywords that have predictable answers. For example, Charlie can tell you how to find out who your Course Coordinator is but does not have enough context to display a name of a particular Course Coordinator.

How did Charlie chatbot get their name?

Charlie is a gender-neutral name inspired by Charles La Trobe, whom the University was named after.

How does Charlie chatbot learn?

Charlie chatbot learns how to provide relevant information from the questions you ask, the links you have selected from the search results and the feedback you provide when you have finished using Charlie. Using Charlie helps Charlie grow!

What does Charlie not do?

Charlie cannot understand context or complicated questions that require reasoning or creativity. Make sure your questions are clear, concise and spelled correctly or Charlie might not be able to provide the right answers.

Where can I find Charlie chatbot?
