A reminder about snakes in warm weather

As spring is officially here and the weather begins to warm up, you may start to notice more wildlife on campus – and this can include an increase in snake activity.

Beware of danger noodles.

Snakes are part of the natural environment and if you do happen to encounter one, we’ve got some tips on how to stay safe:

  • Do not approach, corner, touch or attempt to trap or kill snakes – some can be highly venomous.
  • Remain still, don’t panic and move away slowly – in most cases, snakes will move away or hide to avoid detection.
  • Stay on designated walkways and avoid thickly vegetated areas.
  • If you see a snake, remain calm and contact Campus Security on (03) 9479 2222.

For emergency medical attention, please contact 000 (Triple Zero) then call Campus Security on (03) 9479 2222.
