We were fortunate to have the opportunity to interview some of the Distinguished Alumni Awards winners about their time at La Trobe University. Their recollections and memories are illustrated in the videos below. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Child Wise™ Limited, a child protection charity with a local and global mission based in Melbourne, Australia. Bernadette is prominent among world campaigners working to protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse. Dr Paul Siu Fai Yip (2007 Award)GradDipCompSc, PhD (Maths & InfoSc) Other formatsTranscript Dr Yip received a Graduate Diploma in Computer Science and PhD in Maths & Information Sciences from La Trobe University. He is the foundation director of the Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention and an associate professor in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration at the University of Hong Kong. He leads a multi-disciplinary research team to advocate a public health approach to reduce the number of suicides in Hong Kong, in the region and globally. Professor Kateryna Longley (2002 Award)BA (Hons), DipEd Other formatsTranscript rofessor Longley received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Diploma of Education from La Trobe University. She is currently the Pro Vice Chancellor (Regional Development) at Murdoch University and an Emeritus Professor of Literature. In 2001, she was the winner of the WA Telstra Business Women's Award (Government and Community Category) and was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2003. Professor Longley discusses her time at La Trobe and the community atmosphere at the University. Professor Khatijah Binti Mohamad Yusoff (2007 Award)BSc(Hons)(BiolSc), PhD Other formatsTranscript Professor Yusoff received a Bachelor of Science (Hons) and PhD in Biological Sciences from La Trobe University. She is currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), University Putra Malaysia. She has won many awards and fellowships, including the National Young Scientist Award in 1990. She is currently the Professor of Psychology at the Royal Melbourne Institute (RMIT) of Psychology. Trang has been on the boards of SBS and the Council for the Centenary of Federation amongst others.
