La Trobe Learning and Teaching has a range of induction programs and resources that will enable you to better understand La Trobe University’s approach to learning and teaching.

These resources and programs are suitable for existing staff members and those who have recently arrived at La Trobe.

How do I get involved?

Sessional Teaching Module (LTU_STM)

This program is an orientation to learning and teaching and prepares you for your role. It comprises a self-paced online module that includes:

  • key information to improve the quality of your teaching
  • a moderated online discussion
  • access to networking forums
  • a resource library including videos to support your teaching throughout the semester.

Introduction to Teaching and Learning (ITL)

This two-day blended program involves a self-paced online module introducing you to the key concepts that inform teaching at La Trobe, and a one-day face-to-face workshop links these concepts to practice.

These programs run four times a year and are listed on the events page.

Teaching Improvement of Practice in Subjects (TIPS)

This self-paced online program is designed around the six principles of good teaching practice identified by Paul Ramsden. It aims to assist you to reflect upon your teaching practice in light of student:

  • feedback
  • participation
  • success.

You are encouraged to dip into this online site – in any order and to any extent that is useful.
