Launch

People celebrating the launch of the John Richards Centre. The John Richards Centre (JRC) for Rural Ageing Research (formally John Richards Initiative - JRI, 2007-2018) was launched at the La Trobe University Albury-Wodonga Campus on 13 March 2018, as the first independent research centre under the La Trobe Rural Health School.

The vision of the JRC is to provide global leadership in rural ageing and aged care research that makes a difference to the lives of older people living in rural communities.

Professor Irene Blackberry, Director of the JRC, says the main research themes of the JRC are:

  • Health and Aged Care
  • Ageing in Place
  • Aged Care Workforce
  • Technology and Older People.

In 2019, JRC comprised of 22 staff and affiliates, 8 Higher Degree Research students and generated $1.5 Million in research income.

The JRC is located in Albury-Wodonga and Bendigo.
