A celebration of creative Melbourne, and the launch of our first accredited subject taught within the NGV’s galleries

This celebration of creative Melbourne also marked a milestone: the launch of our first accredited subject to be taught within the NGV’s galleries.

Melbourne Now celebrated the art, architecture, design, performance and culture of our creative city. Held in the summer of 2013/2014, the far-ranging exhibition was spread across NGV International and The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia.

The exhibition showcased more than 175 individual and group presentations along with special projects from the fields of dance, performance art and sound.

Partnership highlights: Launch of our partnership and first accredited subject

As one of the first universities to open in Victoria, it was fitting for us to launch our partnership with the NGV during Melbourne Now. The exhibition also marked the launch of our first exclusive accredited subject taught within the gallery itself: Summer at the NGV.

Creating the Summer at NGV subject gave our students exclusive access to study with La Trobe academic experts alongside NGV curators, surrounded by the great artworks of the past century.

The subject reached capacity enrolments within days of opening – the beginning of a legacy that has only grown richer in the years since.
