Business Majors

Business majors – primary majors

Following are majors that may be attached to the Bachelor of Business, the Bachelor of Business (Accounting), and the Bachelor of Accounting.

By definition the major must be 120 Credit Points and will include no more than 30 Credit Points at first-year level; 30 or more Credit Points at second-year level; and 45 or more Credit Points at third-year level to fulfil the requirements of the major. Note that not all majors are available on all campuses.

Where a student wishes to take an approved subject relevant to the major, approval must be given by the Head of Department or his/her delegate.

Where a subject appears as both a core in their course and a chosen second major or minor, an approved substitute subject must be taken to complete the second major or minor.

Fundamentals of Finance (FIN1FOF) is a subject required for accreditation by both CPA Australia and CAANZ and must be taken as an elective subject in order for the student to graduate with an accounting degree accredited by both CPA Australia and CAANZ.
Taxation (ACC3TAX) is no longer part of the membership requirements for CPA Australia, although it is required for membership of CAANZ. Students are therefore advised to choose to complete Taxation as one of their third year electives.
