What is the new Student Accommodation building?

Construction is now underway to build new Student Accommodation at La Trobe University’s Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus. The project includes two new buildings with 624 beds.

The accommodation will comprise of single, four, five and six bed apartments, including 13 accessible units, common amenities spaces and landscaping that joins the two buildings together.

How can I find out more about living in the new Student Accommodation building?

The new Student Accommodation building is expected to be complete in time for Semester 2, 2020 (July).

Where is the new Student Accommodation building located and when will it be completed?

The Student Accommodation building is located at La Trobe’s Melbourne Campus in Bundoora. The accommodation will be centrally located within the core campus on College Drive, near the existing residences of Glenn College, and is just a 2 minute walk to the Indoor Sports Centre.

Construction on the new Student Accommodation Project began in April 2019. Construction is expected to be complete by July 2020 so that it can be ready for Semester 2, 2020.

What roads will be closed during construction?

College Drive will be closed for construction, including the boom gate in Car Park 6. Please use the following access points for access to:

  • Core campus: Enter at Car Park 6 along Centreway. Please note that at times, there may be traffic management in place to direct vehicles.
  • Glenn Drive: Enter via the gatehouse through Car Park 2 & 3.

Car Park 6 is still accessible and pedestrians can still walk along Centreway, however hoarding has been installed around the construction site and signage is in place to direct pedestrians and vehicles as required.

There is no impact to access to the Indoor Sports Centre.

When will construction take place?

Construction on the new Student Accommodation Project began in April 2019. Construction is expected to be complete by July 2020 so that it can be ready for Semester 2, 2020.

Construction will take place Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) between 7:30am to 6pm, and Saturdays 8am to 3pm.

This means there will be increased activity and noise during these times.

I need to get to the Indoor Sports Centre, can I still access it?

Yes, you can still access the Indoor Sports Centre via Centreway. Car Park 6 is also still accessible.

What is the name of the new Student Accommodation building?

We are yet to name the buildings and will be working on an appropriate name in the coming months.
