CYBERSECURITY

Data is the currency of our highly technological society. Security, however is a major concern. In this workshop, you’ll examine big questions about how society:

  • produces data
  • consumes data
  • secures data

You’ll review case studies where vulnerabilities have resulted in loss of privacy and financial problems. This workshop includes an introduction to the transmission of data using hardware that comprises the backbone of networks and the wider internet. You’ll intercept messages, encrypt data and learn the basics of safeguarding devices and maintaining secure online behaviour.

ARCHAEOLOGY

This hands-on workshop provides you with an introduction to some of the analytical methods and techniques that archaeologists use, and which our students experience during their degree.

In this workshop, you’ll learn a bit about:

  • Stone-tool manufacturing (or knapping)
  • Lithic analysis and recording (how archaeologists record, analyse, and interpret stone tools)
  • 3D scanning and visualisation
