Our final seminar for the year for the year takes on a slightly different format and focuses on policy advice and research agendas for people with cognitive disabilities.
Daniel Leighton
Strategic Advisor, Intellectual Disability, Policy, Advice and Research Division, NDIA
This presentation will explore the role played by the Strategic Advisor, Intellectual Disability, within the policy setting landscape of the NDIS. The presentation will outline the key components of Daniel Leighton's newly created role and also how he believes that the lived experiences and concerns of people with intellectual disabilities, captured as part of recent research activities, can assist in refining and prioritising key objectives of the Research Division into future.
Dr Janice Biggs
Branch Manager, Research and Evaluation, NDIA
In this presentation, Dr Janice Briggs will discuss the newly formed NDIS Research and Evaluation Branch and outline the role this Branch plays within broader operations of the NDIA. The presentation will explore the scope of the Research and Evaluations Branch's current and future work and take a detailed look at its engagement with the wider disability research community.
Professor Bruce Bonyhady
Director, Melbourne Disability Institute
In this presentation Professor Bruce Bonyhady will talk about the newly created National Disability Research Partnership (NDRP). The aim of the NDRP is to facilitate a collaborative, translational research program through partnerships with academics, people with disability, their families and carers, peak advocacy and consumer groups, governments and service providers to conduct cutting-edge policy-relevant research that enables people with disability to participate fully in society. In this presentation, Professor Bonyhady will elaborate further on how the NDRP came into being, its proposed membership structure and potential governance models and also its plans future funding.

In this presentation Di Winkler will talk about the partnership between the Summer Foundation and the Living with Disability Research Centre and touch on some of the main issues at the heart of the Summer Foundation;s research agenda for 2021.
