Dr Jim Radford will discuss the relationships between his current research and the work of Japanese artist Taichi Nakamura.

This event is one of four LAI Field Talks at the Castlemaine State Festival. In these talks, leading Latrobe academics discuss their field of research in parallel to contemporary visual arts in the festival.

Dr Jim Radford is the Principal Research Fellow in the La Trobe Research Centre for Future Landscapes. The Research Centre aims to find solutions and develop next-generation tools to address the global challenge of sustaining natural ecosystems and biodiversity in human-dominated landscapes under climate change.

Taichi Nakamura is an artist based in Sagamihara city, Kanagawa prefecture, just west of Tokyo. A young artist with a prolific work ethic, he is particularly inspired by Australian Modernist painting while investigating issues of landscape management and ecology.
