Learn to weave your own cloth!

This short course introduces you to the 4 shaft loom and enables you to continue weaving independently with confidence. You will weave a small sample, then plan and produce a simple article of your own design, e.g. a bag, scarf, cushion, or table runner.  It’s magic!

Four Saturdays, 9am – 5pm

28 September – Setting up Looms
5 October – Including the 12 – 2pm ‘Interwoven’ Community Participant Gathering
19 October
2 November
And then share your project with the group at a Project Celebration & Loom return event on:
23 November, 12 – 2pm

This short course is part of the public programs for INTERWOVEN:
A cross-cultural + trans-generational weaving collaboration of La Trobe Art Institute + Multicultural Arts Victoria, Emerge Cultural Hub (Bendigo).

Note that people visiting the LAI gallery during Interwoven will be able to observe our progress throughout the workshop. By teaching and learning in the gallery / making space, our classes will make all stages of the weaving process visible to the public – rather than leaving it behind the scenes where it often remains mysterious and inaccessible.
