International Nurses Day and International Day of the Midwife celebration - Mildura

To mark International Nurses Day and International Day of the Midwife, La Trobe University invites you to a morning on campus.

You'll have an opportunity to network, hear from a panel of local nurses and midwives about their journeys to their profession and listen to a thought provoking disucssion on this year's themes.

• International Nurses Day - Our Nurses. Our Future. will be a global campaign which sets out what we want for nursing in the future in order to address the global health challenges and improve global health for all. We need to learn from the lessons of the pandemic and translate these into actions of the future.

• International Day of the Midwife - Together again: from evidence to reality is a nod to the upcoming 33rd ICM Triennial Congress, where our global midwife community will come together for the first time in more than five years. It is also honours the efforts of midwives and their associations to action critical evidence like the State of the World’s Midwifery (SoWMy) 2021 towards meaningful change for our profession and the women and families we care for.

La Trobe University's Head of Campus, Mildura, Sandy Connor will faciliate a panel discussion. Members on the panel include:

• Darren Midgley - CEO, Rural Care Australia
• Anita Erlandsen - Site Manager, Icon Cancer Centre, Mildura
• Vicki Broad - Maternity Services Manager, Robinvale District Health Services
• Matt Golding - Registered Nurse and Master of Mental Health Nursing student, Mildura Base Public Hospital

This event will be a great opportunity for University and TAFE students to network with local industry and future employers.

Coffee and a light breakfast will be provided. Please register to assist with catering.
