Selected works from the La Trobe Collections

La Trobe University is the custodian of one of Australia’s largest collections of art, artefacts and antiquities. Ongoing research into the individual items in the various Collections, as well as connective threads running across different categories, drives a commitment to exhibit our cultural assets in critically engaging presentations.

On a regular annual basis, LAI will present an exhibition that reflects upon aspects of the Collection and its component parts, driven by research-oriented processes and outcomes. Whether it be a specific material, an art-historical genre or an investigation into the ethics of provenance, our Collection Focus series will provide ways of better understanding not only the La Trobe University Collections, but the very nature of collections management.
