Get hands-on in workshops across one day and discover what being a uni student is really like. Bring your friends, partner or parents and find out what to expect at university.

You’ll attend workshops, lectures, seminars and meet the academics who’ll be teaching your course. Our student ambassadors can give you the inside scoop on Life at La Trobe and what to expect when you study with us. The event is targeted at year 10, 11 and 12 students.

There will also be virtual sessions on offer for 2021, meaning everyone is able to Experience Clever. See registrations for which sessions are available face-to-face or virtually.

Sessions

Biomedical Science

Biomedical science helps graduates build a career in a wide range of disciplines. Using leading-edge technologies, biomedical scientists research human physical wellness, discover underlying causes of disease and develop tools for its prevention, diagnosis and treatment. In our interactive laboratory session, you’ll meet local and international biomedical scientists and hear firsthand accounts of their career paths and experience.

Social Arts

Want a course that gives you the flexibility to follow your passions, study a range of subject areas and travel the world? Arts degrees equip you with broad skills, critical thinking and a worldly approach. Study wide-ranging subjects and choose to major in English, history and sociology. In 2020, we’re also introducing a new major in crime, justice and legal studies. An arts course can lead to an exciting career in archaeology, political policies and international development. It can also be used as a pathway into law and criminology among other disciplines.

Business

Have you ever wanted to be your own boss, or maybe work at the big end of town as a corporate high flyer? Perhaps you’d like to work in sport or travel or follow your passion and build a career where you live. Whatever your goals, all businesses need passionate people who understand how and why customers make choices and build strategies to help them find what they want. Come and experience why a business degree is vital in the 21st century.

Campus Life

What’s it like to live on campus? What are the different social events I can attend and how much does everything cost? Get all your questions answered at a tour of our onsite accommodation and join in on some fun icebreaker activities with other future students. The tour will also involve current residential students and staff, who will be happy to answer your questions. Changing your lifestyle is inevitable, but this session can make it an easy transition.

Health Sciences (virtual only)

A new course offering at the Albury-Wodonga campus in 2021, Health Sciences is the first step to a rewarding career in health. Health care is one of the world’s fastest growing careers and health care professionals are in high demand. Discover a supported pathway to one of our health degrees – or get the skills to step into entry-level roles. Come along to this virtual session to learn about career opportunities in allied health areas.

Psychology

Curious about human behaviour? This interactive workshop will explore the types of psychological processes that happen during a typical day. You’ll leave with a better understanding of the science of psychology as it applies to everyday life, and get a glimpse into what studying psychology at university might be like.

Social Work

Social workers gain experience in many areas, including parenting, mediation, child protection, domestic violence and working with people with disabilities. In this interactive workshop, you’ll gain an understanding of what a social worker would do while undertaking a community project. Social workers can change people’s lives, build relationships and make a real difference – come and find out how at our workshop.

Life at Uni

How do I pay for university? Should I l live on or off campus? Can I get a job and study at the same time? If you want to learn more about university life, come along to meet our Student Ambassadors who are currently studying at the La Trobe Albury-Wodonga campus. You’ll receive firsthand information on what it’s like to be a university student and have the opportunity to ask questions in an interactive session at the end.

Education (virtual only)

A career in education can inspire others and make a positive impact on students’ lives. Completing a degree in education can lead to a career in many diverse places like the classroom, the community or the great outdoors – you could even find work as an industry leader. Find out more about potential career paths in our workshop and learn how professional placement opportunities will prepare you for a career in and out of the classroom.

Science

Contribute to solving some of the biggest challenges the world faces today by studying science. Sought after by a diverse range of employers, science graduates are highly valued and can find work in areas such a government, defence, research, astronomy, meteorology, business, journalism or management. Get to know more about being a scientist in this interactive workshop where you’ll learn about career paths, study options and more.

Nursing

Gain an understanding of the skills required by nurses in clinical practice. Experience a simulated clinical ward and nursing laboratory located right here on campus. In this session, you can take part in caring for a simulation patient and interact with a range of equipment our students use as they train to become Registered Nurses.

TAFE to University

Your ATAR isn’t the only way of getting into La Trobe. Come along to this session and meet the staff from Wodonga Institute of TAFE, who can tell you about the programs offered to step you into a university degree. You’ll also learn about the various subjects offered at TAFE and how you can gain employment along the way.

Paramedicine (virtual only)

Saving lives. Helping the community. Supporting people in crisis. There are few jobs more important than a paramedic. And industry needs are evolving. A degree in paramedic practice gives you the knowledge and skills to launch a career in this challenging and rewarding field of health. Come along to this virtual session to discover what a career in paramedicine could look like for you.
