Core module on social business

Students at La Trobe Business School are engaged in a module of learning and practice about social business. This module is embedded in the compulsory third level Entrepreneurship subject (BUS3ENT) that is one of the core subjects for all Bachelor of Business students.

Collaboration with Melbourne Innovation Hub

The Center entered into an official collaboration with Melbourne Innovation Hub to enhance student engagement with the incubator processes of the hub. Students undertaking the subject Digital Branding and Retailing (MKT2BBM) develop their semester projects around building brand awareness for the Melbourne Innovation Hub.

Yunus Social Business Library and Resources Hub

In 2015, La Trobe Business School developed a collection of business books, materials, and resources to donate to the Melbourne Innovation Hub to enhance the enrichment offered at the incubator. A specialist collection on social business was also developed by the Yunus Centre Dhaka (Bangladesh) and it includes books authored by professor Muhammad Yunus and workbooks and other materials developed as part of the Yunus Centre incubation processes in Dhaka. These resources are held at the YSBC La Trobe Business School with a set of materials also included in the Melbourne Innovation Hub collection.

Appointment of Professor Muhammad Yunus to La Trobe University

In 2014, Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Laureate, accepted an appointment as Emeritus Professor of the La Trobe Business School. Professor Yunus advises the Head of School and the Director of the YSBC on strategic projects to enhance La Trobe Business School's mission to be a community of students, academics, and professionals committed to enhancing business learning through education and research, which is innovative, responsible, and engaged.
