Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, Prototyping and Sensing (RAMPS)

Logo for the RAMPS research RAMPS (Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, Prototyping and Sensing) is a multidisciplinary Research and Development (R&D) team who engineer solutions to a wide variety of problems.

RAMPS engineers are skilled in design and integration across electronic, software and mechanical fields to produce solutions that work.

Our in-house mechanical prototyping facility gives us capabilities across milling, laser and water jet cutting as well as a variety of 3D printers.

We endeavour to take a Systems Engineering (SE) approach so that we design solutions that are fit for purpose by properly analysing all the requirements.

Some recent projects have included:

  • Novel sewer pipeline inspection robots
  • Remote wildlife monitoring and rehabilitation systems
  • HVAC damper inspection systems
  • Robotic Lizards with 8-DOF tail actuators
  • Even a full sized R2D2.
