Internships and Work Integrated Learning student placements

Work Integrated Learning (WIL)

Australian employers want graduates with transferable skills and real-world experience.

La Trobe offers opportunities for all students to undertake for-credit elective placement subjects, helping them to gain practical, real life work experience and make valuable industry connections. Our Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placement subjects connect students with organisations so that they can learn and apply their theoretical knowledge to practical, real-world projects.

From an industry perspective, hosting students allows La Trobe’s partner organisations to develop graduate skill pathways and showcase their career opportunities. WIL is a great way for organisations to maximise their access to their industry’s emerging talent.

Employers often find that our students make significant contributions to their business, often developing associations that have led to ongoing employment or continued work internships through scholarship sponsorship.

The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) team within La Trobe’s College of Science, Health and Engineering plays a key role in building successful industry partnerships and facilitating a host of work integrated learning placements for students and partners.
