Automatic Bicycle gear
The aim of this project was to design and implement an automatic electronic gear shifting system on a bicycle. The system will use servo motors to adjust the front and rear derailleurs depending on measurements collected by Hall Effect sensors used to measure the rider's cadence and wheel speed.
A main control unit with a display will feature on the handlebars of the bike, showing the user's current and desired cadence, speed and current gear. The desired cadence can be selected by the rider using pushbuttons. This project will be implemented on a road bicycle, but could be adapted to any bicycle with an external gear system.
