About the Department
Our purpose is to empower professionals so that they are ready to contribute to transforming learning by engaging in local cultures of education.
We build on the diversity of our locations and staff in inclusive research and teaching. We challenge the people and institutions we engage with to teach, learn and lead in ways that celebrate difference when it includes and overcome it when it excludes.
- Teacher education courses across five locations: Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Melbourne, Mildura and Shepparton.
- Postgraduate programs in Melbourne and in Bendigo together with research training on all our campuses.
- Wide ranging research programs - both locally and internationally connected and designed to make a difference.
La Trobe ranks in the top 200 universities internationally and in the top 20 in Australia for Education subjects (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2016). La Trobe also ranks ‘at world standard’ for its research in Education and Special Studies in Education (ERA 2015-2016 assessment).
