Applied econometrics and forecasting
There are numerous research areas in different economic fields and business applications. This ranges from mainstream business cycle analysis to esoteric sports economics. The methodologies are wide ranging involving cross-sectional, time series and panel data analyses and forecasting. Applied researchers employ econometric techniques to study economic and financial data to explain certain economic and financial phenomena. They also develop new and better econometric methods to address limitations of existing methods.
