Professor Kate Webster
Professor Kate Webster is Head of the Department of Sport, Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. She is an established tertiary educator with over 20 years’ undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research supervision experience. Professor Webster is internationally recognised for her research and was named Australia’s Top Researcher in Orthopaedic Medicine and Surgery. She has published over 250 journal articles and book chapters. She was the lead developer of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament Return to Sport after Injury (ACL-RSI) scale which is translated into 15 languages. Professor Webster is regularly invited to present her work nationally and internationally. She is a member of the Electronic Media Board for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and has appointments for many other advisory boards and international research working groups.
Professor Regina Belski
Professor Regina Belski is Discipline Lead of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics. She is an advanced accredited practising dietitian and advanced sports dietitian. Professor Belski is a highly regarded researcher and experienced clinician in sports dietetics. Her research is multi-dimensional, cross-disciplinary and collaborative and she leads significant work in four distinct, yet complimentary, areas: sports and performance nutrition, functional food, metabolic health, and the scholarship of teaching. In addition to her research expertise, Professor Belski is also a highly regarded teacher and was awarded the Australian Government Office of Learning and Teaching Citation for outstanding contribution to student learning (2014): “For creating an engaging, practice-oriented learning environment in nutrition and dietetics which inspires students to become self-reflective, independent, lifelong learners.”
Professor Paul Gastin
Professor Paul Gastin is Discipline Lead of Sport and Exercise Science. He is a Fellow of Exercise and Sports Science Australia, an L2 accredited sports scientist and high performance manager. Professor Gastin's teaching and research focuses on innovation in sport science and coaching to enhance the performance of people and organisations across the sport participation spectrum. Focus areas include athlete and soldier monitoring, predictors of injury and performance, talent development pathways and sport analytics. He has 30 years’ experience in education, research and high performance sport in Australia and overseas. Collaboration, industry partnerships and multidisciplinary teams are a feature of Professor Gastin’s applied sport research. In recent years, he has partnered with the Australian Institute of Sport, Cricket Australia, the Australia Football League, Defence Science and Technology group, and sport technology companies including Champion Data, VALD Performance and Synergy Sports.
