Aimed at people with no prior knowledge, this fully online microcredential course will give you the foundational knowledge of blockchains and distributed ledgers.

 

Together with its companion course, Blockchain and Cryptocurrency, this microcredential can be stacked into a subject for potential advanced standing in the Master of Cybersecurity.

  • What is blockchain?
  • Types of blockchain and applications of blockchain
  • Network layers
  • Cryptographic mechanisms
  • Consensus mechanisms
  • Smart contracts.

On successful completion of this course, you will be awarded a digital credential and earn 5 credit points that can be accumulated with its partner course, 'Blockchain and Cryptocurrency', to stack into  ‘The Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies (CSE5BCC), a subject within the Master of Cybersecurity.

This microcredential will equip you with a sound knowledge of and basic skills in:

  • The use of blockchain and distributed ledgers as alternatives to traditional financial transactions in trust-free transactions
  • Recommending appropriate usage of blockchains by business and industry.

Your study experience

This fully online microcredential is delivered over 2 weeks.  The total expected time commitment for this course is 40 hours, which includes guided learning, extended reading and assessment.  

 

The assessment for this course comprises an online quiz, with a pass rate of 80%.

I have paid the fee for a short course. When will I have access to the course?  

Access to courses is generally available two weeks in advance of the scheduled course start date, or as advised in the registration confirmation email.  Course materials are made available via our Learning Management System (LMS) for which you will be provided with your username and initial password.

I need to defer my registration. How do I go about this?
