Together with its companion course, this microcredential can be stacked into a subject for potential advanced standing in the Bachelor of Cybersecurity.

Course content

Topics include:

  • Computer architectures and key concepts associated with data structures, evidence collection and validation

  • The latest forensic theory and practice used in forensic discovery and analysis

  • Forensics tools and techniques used on varying types of hardware when gatherine and analysing digital evidence

  • How to apply legally compliant processes and procedures for forensically gathering and analysing digital evidence and deliver a presentation of findings.

     

On successful completion of this course, you wil be awarded a digital credential and earn 10 credit points that can be accumulated with its partner course, 'Introduction to Digital Forensic', to stack into  'Introduction to Computer Forensics (CSE3CFN)', a subject within the Bachelor of Cybersecurity.

Your study experience

The course is delivered online over 4 weeks.  The the total expected time commitment for this course is 80 hours.  

The assessment comprises:

  • Digital Forensics exam (70%)
  • Malware Analysis/Risk Assessment written report (30%).

Access to courses is generally available two weeks in advance of the scheduled course start date, or as advised in the registration confirmation email.  Course materials are made available via our Learning Management System (LMS) for which you will be provided with your username and initial password.
