Master of International Relations (Research Studies)

Fees and costs
$20,200 per 120 credit points.

This one-semester extension to the standard Masters of International Relations allows you to undertake a sustained research study in an area of interest. You will undertake a highly specialised supervised research thesis of 18,000 words, which makes you eligible for entry into Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) - Masters by Research and PhD. After gaining approval from the Course Coordinator and identifying a potential supervisor, you will transfer the subject credits from the standard Masters into the Masters (Research).

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9.

This course is designed for professionals seeking career progression, or specialist knowledge in various areas of international relations. You'll be prepared for a career in international diplomacy, foreign policy, governance, industry affairs, and local and international development. Career opportunities exist within NGOs and local and international inter-governmental agencies like Oxfam, Red Cross and Amnesty International, as well as in government agencies such as the Department of Defence, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Our graduates have moved into careers in policy, diplomacy and defence - in Australia and overseas. You may also choose to move into roles in academia, media, the corporate sector or with various think tanks.
