Master of Cybersecurity (Business Operations)
Designed in collaboration with our industry partners, our Master of Cybersecurity (Business Operations) is geared to keep pace with the information security demands of business, government, defence and law enforcement.
Information security has been identified as a top priority for executives of Australian companies. You'll learn to use analytics and risk management processes to inform key business practices. When you graduate, you'll be indispensable as the bridge between technical and managerial aspects of cybercrime prevention.
You'll undertake a set of foundation subjects to develop industry-relevant multidisciplinary skills before specialising in business operations. These subjects will cover fundamentals of cybersecurity, core knowledge about communication networks, crisis communication, the mindset and motives of hackers, auditing and risk mitigation, as well as legal and ethical frameworks.
The business operations stream will prepare you for the modern business environment which requires more complex data analysis than ever before. You'll learn predictive techniques and how to use analytics to gain knowledge and skills to align business needs and deliver meaningful outcomes.
This degree provides a pathway for existing business and information technology professionals seeking to start or progress their careers in the cybersecurity domain.
The minimum entry requirement is successful completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or its equivalent).
Prior learning developed through relevant work experience or professional accreditation, where it is deemed to be at least equivalent to that obtained through a Bachelor degree, may be considered. In making an offer to an applicant, the University will give consideration to a range of factors to determine whether an applicant has demonstrated the capacity to work at a Masters level, including academic record, English proficiency, and/or employment experience.
NB: Meeting minimum entry requirements does not guarantee an offer of a place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.
Cybersecurity experts are increasingly in demand globally and across a wide variety of industries, including government, defence, banking and finance, telecommunications, health care and retail. Graduates will be well positioned for the following careers: - Security architect - Cyber intelligence - Compliance assurance manager - Cybersecurity consultant - Security analyst - Security policy advisor - Researcher - Risk management specialist Additionally, this course is suited to senior managers and executives to ensure they are well-equipped to protect their organisations from the threat of cybercrime.
Fees and costs
$28,400 based on 120 credit points. You may be eligible for FEE-HELP, an Australian Government no-interest loan for university fees.
