Employers want engineering graduates with adaptable knowledge that transcend traditional engineering boundaries. With Engineering at La Trobe, you will be equipped to think and act beyond these boundaries, to deliver sustainable and creative solutions to complex technical problems. You'll learn how to make engineering decisions that make commercial sense.
This degree has been developed in response to industry needs. Our industrial engineering approach means you'll learn to work across many engineering specialties - including electrical, robotics, electronic and mechanical engineering.
With the opportunity for six months of real-world engineering experience, you can expand your technical skills, develop first-hand understanding of a business environment and build your industry contacts - all supported by a $10,000 scholarship. During your time in industry, you will be involved in project groups and make a valuable contribution to your work team.
A Work-Integrated Learning opportunity is guaranteed for students on the Bendigo Campus, limited places are available on the Melbourne Campus.

VCE Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL; and a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics.
NB: Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.
Year 12 and non-year 12 extra requirements
Non year 12 applicants must complete and submit a VTAC Personal Statement online for other information to be considered during the selection process e.g., details on work experience or reasons for applying.
A study score of 25 in Maths: Specialist Mathematics equals 4 aggregate points. A study score of 20 in any LOTE, Physics or Systems Engineering equals 4 aggregate points per study. Overall maximum of 12 points.

You'll be prepared for roles in: - manufacturing - resources - infrastructure development - healthcare - consulting - project management - the government sector. You could play a vital role in a small business, providing technical expertise and using your design-based skills on diverse engineering projects. You may manage sophisticated projects, leading a team of engineers, business people and other professionals in a large organisation. You could become an engineering consultant providing expert advice to businesses around the world.
The Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Industrial) has provisional accreditation from Engineers Australia (EA). Professional registration may require an application to the professional body and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond the completion of the degree. Your course fees will depend on the subjects you choose to study: each subject has its own costs. The total course fee may vary depending on the subjects you choose, your study load, the time it takes to complete your course and your approved Credit for Prior Learning.
