$40,000 per 120 credit points* (students only complete 60 credit points)
Note: 120 credit points represents full-time study for one year. * The tuition fee La Trobe will charge you for undertaking the course in 2018 is $15,000. This does not include tuition fees for the Graduate Certificate subjects. If you have completed the Graduate Certificate in Sports Physiotherapy, you are only required to complete the last 60 credit points of the Masters program. The subject PTY5ASP (15 credit points) incurs no La Trobe tuition fees as this content is not delivered by the university. You will need to complete the Level 3 Sports Course at a cost of approximately $2,500.

This course provides graduate physiotherapists with an opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills in sports physiotherapy.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9.

Entry requirements

Prerequisites

- Bachelor of Physiotherapy or equivalent
- Graduate Certificate in Sports Physiotherapy with at least a B-grade course weighted average mean
- At least three years of clinical experience in the sports field
- Full current Australian physiotherapy registration.

NB: Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.

Career outcomes

Graduates may find work in various sporting environments, including private practice and sports clubs.

Professional recognition

Graduates of the Master of Sports Physiotherapy may apply for membership and the title of APA Sports Physiotherapist with the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA). Membership and titling may be subject to additional or ongoing requirements beyond completion of the degree. Please contact the relevant body for details.

Additional costs

In addition, you will also incur accommodation, travel costs and food expenses for the two-week University-based PTY5CRP subject. You may also incur costs for Clinical Placements, cost will vary according to venue. Students must have a valid Police Certificate $17.00 - $42.00 and have a Working with Children Check (no charge). A First Aid II Certificate and/or CPR assessment may be required (AUD$160). Please note this course is not conducted by La Trobe University. A schedule of mandatory immunisations maybe required, the costs of which may vary depending on previous immunisation history, approximately AUD$250 -AUD$500.
