The Master of Professional Accounting (CPA Australia Extension) builds on the Master of Professional Accounting. The MPA is designed to give you a thorough understanding of accounting concepts as they are applied to diverse business environments, and the CPA Australia Extension provides you with face-to-face tuition which can support you in the satisfactory completion of the CPA professional exams required for professional accreditation. Once you pass your professional exams you will be qualified to gain employment within the accounting profession.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9.

Entry requirements

Prerequisites

The minimum entry requirement is successful completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or its equivalent). Prior learning developed through relevant work experience or professional accreditation, where it is deemed to be at least equivalent to that obtained through a Bachelor degree, may be considered. In making an offer to an applicant, the University will give consideration to a range of factors to determine whether an applicant has demonstrated the capacity to work at a Masters level, including academic record, English proficiency, and/or employment experience.

Career outcomes

Graduates with specialisations and working toward professional membership are highly regarded by prospective employers. To become a CPA, graduates are required to gain three years' work experience as well as completing the CPA program.

Professional recognition

The Master of Professional Accounting (CPA Australia Extension) is accredited by CPA Australia. Membership may require an application to the professional body and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond the completion of the degree. Please contact the relevant professional body for details.
