This globally recognised course gives you the knowledge and practical skills you need to work in the tourism and hospitality industry.
In first year, you'll cover key business disciplines including accounting, economics, finance and marketing. You'll also complete the first subject of your major in tourism and hospitality. The eight-subject tourism and hospitality major is structured around unique work experiences.
In second year, you'll gain hands-on experience in using front-of-house and travel management booking systems, and you'll participate in a hotel management computer simulation towards the end of your course. You'll also have the opportunity to take a second major in event management or a second language.
You can also gain credit while studying overseas through our network of partner universities, which includes top business schools such as the University of Innsbruck and the Berlin School of Economics.
Our unique industry Professors of Practice work within this course to improve course curriculum, student learning experience, and engage with industry and business.
The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 7.
Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.
NB: Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.
Year 12 and non-year 12 extra requirements
Applicants may wish to provide other documentation in support of their application. Non-Year 12 applicants must complete and submit a VTAC Personal Statement online for other information to be considered during the selection process e.g. details on work experience or reasons for applying. Selection may also be based on ENTER/ATAR, GPA or STAT Multiple Choice.
A study score of 25 in any Business or any Mathematics equals 4 aggregate points per study. A study score of 20 in any LOTE equals 4 aggregate points per study. Overall maximum of 12 points.

You'll graduate ready to manage venues, festivals and conferences, work at holiday resorts, or take up a role on a cruise ship.
The Bachelor of Business (Tourism and Hospitality) has EPAS (EFMD Programme Accreditation System) accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). Professional registration may require an application to the professional body and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond the completion of the degree. Your course fees will depend on the subjects you choose to study: each subject has its own costs. The total course fee may vary depending on the subjects you choose, your study load, the time it takes to complete your course and your approved Credit for Prior Learning.

Melbourne Campus: Students are required to purchase a basic hospitality uniform at a cost of approximately A$150. This can be purchased from any supplier, and remains the student's personal property.
