Studying the Master of Business Information Management and Systems will give you a greater understanding of the technologies and knowledge required for a successful career in business IT.

We're recognised both nationally and internationally for excellence in information and communication technology (ICT). Our course was developed with industry experts and is structured to meet the accreditation requirements of the Australian Computer Society (ACS).

We have strong industry partnerships with organisations such as Infosys, Telstra, SAP and SAS. This means you'll experience industry-based learning with leaders in their field.

Studying at our Melbourne Campus, you'll gain transferable skills in data analysis, ICT problem-solving and system development. You'll also learn business information processes, planning and project management. Real-world business intelligence projects will give you the hands-on experience you’ll need to make smart business decisions as a professional in this area.

Globally, there is high demand for postgraduate-level IT development and management specialists and information systems analysts. Our graduates are working as program coordinators, Agile test analysts, business analysts, fraud analysts, visualisation analysts and ICT managers.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9.

Entry requirements

Prerequisites

An Australian Bachelor's degree in any discipline or an approved equivalent qualification. Admission may be granted to applicants without an undergraduate degree but with five or more years of relevant work experience. In making an offer to an applicant, the university may give consideration to a range of factors including English proficiency, academic record and employment experience. NB: Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.

Applicants with demonstrated prior learning in the form of an Australian Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or an approved equivalent qualification will be eligible to apply for Advanced Standing (credit) for the four foundation subjects. Applicants without an undergraduate degree but with a demonstrated minimum of at least five years relevant and cognate business experience will be eligible to apply for Advanced Standing for the four foundation subjects. In making an offer of Advanced Standing to an applicant, the University may give consideration to a range of factors including English proficiency, academic record and/or employment experience.
