Why study environmental geoscience?

It's likely that solutions to the most complex environmental problems will come from an interdisciplinary field of expertise. An environmental geoscience major draws on chemistry, geography, IT and ecology, giving you a unique and thorough foundation of studies.

You'll develop the knowledge and skills to explore unique ways to look at climate change, sustainability, pollution, soil remediation and degradation, salinisation and water conservation.

Environmental geoscience offers you the potential to make an impact through a solution-based examination of the most pressing issues that threaten contemporary society.

Where can environmental geoscience take me?

Graduates with a major in environmental geoscience are prepared for work in government and state departments, not-for-profit organisations, environmental consulting companies, resource management and conservation.

Further study options

If you're an undergraduate with a strong academic record and an appropriate major, Honours in environmental geoscience awaits. Your Honours year will give you the chance to combine coursework and research in a specialised area of study.

Complete the Honours program with high grades to qualify for entry into the Masters by Research program or direct entry into the PhD program.
