A professor of plant biology, Professor Bacic (La Trobe Distinguished Alumni Award, 2013) is recognised internationally for his work in plant biotechnology.
His research focuses on cereal biology, food quality and crop productivity, food security and the management and protection of Australia's core crops of wheat and barley.
Research Director at La Trobe's Institute for Agriculture and Food
With more than 7,000 citations for published articles on plant energy metabolism, Professor Whelan has established himself as one of the most influential authors by the American Society of Plant Biology.
His outstanding contributions to plant biology has earned him a position with the Australian Academy of Science.

Radek Sali will be showcasing two of his businesses at the inaugural Global Table.
Light Warrior, his purpose-driven investment group, will join a panel on Riding the Tide of Ethical Investment, focused on encouraging investment in businesses that contribute positively to society.
Made By Cow, Sali's cold-pressed raw milk company, will showcase its products and cold-press technology in both the Trade Zone and Innovation Expo.
Elsewhere, Radek will welcome attendees in his capacity as Chair of Food + Wine Victoria, the organisation delivering Global Table.
