Pathways to La Trobe: our on-campus college
If you don’t meet the academic or English requirements for your selected degree, there are a range of pathway courses which provide direct entry into La Trobe University.
These pathway courses are delivered on campus in Melbourne and Sydney by our partner, Navitas.
You can study a Foundation Studies or Diploma program which lead to first or second year of a range of La Trobe bachelor degrees, or complete a three-month Postgraduate Enabling Program which leads to first-year of a range of Master’s degrees.
All on-campus pathway programs are packaged with your La Trobe University degree, so you have one offer letter, one student visa, and one student ID for the duration of your studies.

Foundation Studies
Foundation Studies is a bridging program to help you transition from high school to university.
These eight or twelve-month programs are equivalent to an Australian secondary school qualification and students can progress to a Diploma or first year of university, dependent on progression requirements.

Diploma
The Diplomas are equivalent to the first year of undergraduate study, with program content designed to closely match what is delivered in the corresponding degree.
You can choose to complete your Diploma in eight or twelve months and gain direct entry into the second year of your La Trobe bachelor’s degree, subject to progression requirements.

Pre-Master's
Our Postgraduate Enabling Program (PEP) is a pre-Master’s course that provides a pathway into a range of La Trobe Master’s degrees.
PEP is for students who do not have the academic skills and/or English requirements for direct entry into postgraduate study. Throughout the three-month course, you’ll gain the disciplinary knowledge and skills required for postgraduate study, while developing the communication skills needed to engage professionally and communicate with stakeholders.
Students can specialise in either business or information technology, dependent on their selected Master’s degree.

English
A range of English courses are offered on campus in Melbourne and Sydney, including English for further studies and IELTS preparation, as well as IELTS testing.
If you don’t meet the language requirements for your course, English can be packaged with your Offer. This means you can progress directly to your pathway course or La Trobe degree after completion of your English studies without having to undertake further testing (e.g. IELTS).
By choosing to study English on campus at La Trobe, you will have complete flexibility with nine intakes per year and small class sizes to ensure you have exceptional support.
Navitas Bundoora Pty Ltd (Higher Education provider, CRICOS 03312D) offers Foundation Studies and Diploma programs in Melbourne and Sydney, as an alternative entry point into La Trobe’s degree programs. Students who pass all course requirements will receive a qualification from Navitas. The Postgraduate Enabling Program is a La Trobe University course, delivered on behalf of the University by Navitas. ELICOS courses in Melbourne are also delivered by Navitas Bundoora Ltd, (CRICOS 03312D) and in Sydney by Navitas English Ltd (CRICOS 00289M).
