University of Pennsylvania: Margin Buster Micro Grant
Dr Andrew Harvey, Director of the Centre for Higher Education Equity and Diversity Research (CHEEDR; formerly known as The Access and Achievement Research Unit) and Dr Stella Flores, Center for Access, Equity, and Diversity Research at Vanderbilt University, are the principal investigators of the international access to higher education project. The $6,000 project is funded by the University of Pennsylvania: Margin Buster Micro Grant and will develop stage one of a two-stage project assessing the design and effectiveness of equity policies relating to the international access to higher education.
The aim is to develop an empirical framework for international comparative evaluation of higher education admissions policies, specifically in relation to students who are defined as minorities, disadvantaged, underserved or under-represented. The nations of focus are Australia, South Africa, Brazil, and the United States. The outcome will be a 'student equity admissions framework' that will provide the background and context for stage two, an international seminar on college access interventions to be held at Vanderbilt University in the fall of 2017 called 'Experiments in International College Access'.
