The College of Arts, Social Sciences and Commerce consists of four schools: La Trobe Law School, La Trobe Business School, the School of Education and the School of Humanities & Social Sciences.

Excellence in research and education
La Trobe ranks as the top university in Victoria for research in archaeology, top in Victoria for tourism, and equal first for political science. We also rank in the top three universities in Victoria for research in accounting, auditing and accountability, anthropology, banking, finance and investment and linguistics.*
Archaeology was ranked within the international top 100 and ranked second in Victoria.**
Philosophy, history and sociology were all ranked between 101-200. Four further College disciplines were ranked within the top 200 which included accounting and finance, communication and media studies, education and law.**
The online MBA program has continued to be world-leading in the latest QS Distance Online MBA Rankings 2018. The program is positioned fourth in Australia and 46th globally.**
