Graphic encounters: Colonial prints and the inscription of Aboriginality

About the project
Be advised
Graphic Encounters is a project that aims to decolonise the colonial visual archive, spanning images from voyages of exploration to federation. We wish to advise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People that this archive includes images of people who are now deceased but whose families we are now attempting to trace. Graphic Encounters reproduces some images that are now considered derogatory and offensive in order to trace and interrogate the cultural and historical recurrence of racism.
